ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 5, 2009 – The Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children welcomes Dr. Eric R. Trumble to its team, as director of Congenital Neurosurgery. This new position is unique, as he holds double-board certification (adult and pediatric neurosurgery) and has clinical experience to improve treatment in patients with congenital neurosurgical diseases regardless of age. His clinical interests in skull/craniofacial anomalies, neuro-oncology, epilepsy, vascular malformations and congenital brain and spine malformations, bring another level of expertise to Florida Hospital for Children.
Dr. Trumble graduated with a degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, continuing his research in neurosciences at the National Institute of Health following graduation. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Virginia, and performed his residency at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Trumble’s formal training culminated with a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. He is board-certified in both adult and pediatric neurosurgery, and devotes his career to the treatment of congenital neurosurgical diseases.
Besides serving as director of congenital neurosurgery at Florida Hospital for Children, Dr. Trumble was named vice chairman of the Department of Children’s Surgery for the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Spina Bifida Association, Dandy-Walker Alliance and Florida Hospital for Children Foundation. Finally, Dr. Trumble holds clinical appointments at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, Florida State University College of Medicine and Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
