When these issues do arise, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children is here for you. There is a feeling of unbridled hope that every child who comes through our doors has the chance to live a full and healthy life. We see miracles happen every day, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our medical professionals, amazing advances in medicine, and the tremendous power of prayer. 

Our NICU is known for our:

• Integrated team of specialists with comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services, from minimally invasive surgery to highly complex, leading-edge care and procedures
• State-of-the-art programs and services, including nitric oxide therapy, hypothermia management for infants with oxygen-related brain injuries, neonatal/pediatric surgical suites, and surfactant therapy
• Advanced neonatal respiratory program to prevent and aggressively manage severe respiratory diseases in pre- and full-term high-risk infants
• Expert assistance in parent education, including CPR training, certified lactation consultants, screening specialists and developmental follow-up
• Dedicated parent lounge, parent-friendly baby rooms, access to the Ronald McDonald House and the March of Dimes Kiosk Center, and kid-friendly sibling waiting areas with movies and toys

Because critical care situations don’t happen on a set schedule, our NICU is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by an experienced team of highly trained neonatologists, neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists and pharmacists. These professionals are focused entirely on the care of critically ill infants so you and your family can be confident that your child is in the best of hands.
