Volunteer Descriptions

 

  • ARTIST IN MOTION: Providing creative opportunities for patients, families, and visitors at the bedside.
  • FAMILY AND VISITOR SNACK CART ATTENDANT: Delivering free snacks to the patient’s family or visitors throughout Florida Hospital for Children at the bedside.
  • HOLIDAY AND EVENTS ASSISTANT: Provides organizational assistance during special events and activities. 
  • MUSIC THERAPY: Assists music therapist during musical interventions at the bedside and in the playrooms.
  • PEDIATRIC SURGERY CONCIERGE: (12 bed unit) Greets and directs patients and families, engages patients and siblings in play opportunities, provide additional family and patient needs.
  • PEDIATRIC BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT UNIT: (8 bed unit) Facilitate playroom and bedside activities for patients and siblings.  Assisting the Child Life Specialist when needed e.g. organizing, restocking, cleaning, etc.
  • PET THERAPY LEADER: Leads pet therapy volunteers to visit the patients and families throughout Florida Hospital for Children in order to create the human and animal connection.
  • WALT DISNEY PAVILION WALKING CONCIERGE: Greets, directs, and assists patients, families, visitors, and staff.  Organizes and cleans lobby area as needed.  Engages children in play opportunities. 
  • PEDIATRIC OUTPATIENT PROCEDURE UNIT: (8 beds) Engaging patients in age appropriate activities at the bedside.  Present volunteer services to families and visitors.
  • NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE INFANT CUDDLER: (80 beds) Provides affection, love, and warmth to patients and families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  Assist staff with daily tasks as needed.
  • PEDIATRIC RADIOLOGY CONCIERGE: Greets and directs patients and families, engages patients and siblings in play opportunities, assists with additional family and patient needs.
  • ADMINISTRATIVE VOLUNTEER: Supports the Volunteer Manager with office duties including but not limited to filing, phone calls, database entry, and additional clerical tasks.
  • PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT CONCIERGE: (16 beds) Greets and directs patients and families, engages patients and siblings in play opportunities, assists with additional family and patient needs.
  • PEDIATRIC EPILEPSY/ONCOLOGY UNIT: (16 bed unit) Facilitate playroom and bedside activities for patients and siblings.  Assisting the Child Life Specialist when needed e.g. organizing, restocking, cleaning, etc.
  • PEDIATRIC INTENSIVE CARE UNIT: (22 bed unit) Engaging patients in age appropriate activities at the bedside.  Present volunteer services to families and visitors. Assisting the Child Life Specialist when needed e.g. organizing, restocking, cleaning, etc.
  • PEDIATRIC OUTPATIENT REHABILITATION: Interacts with patients, families and visitors in waiting room.  Cleans, organizes, and restocks equipment and supplies.  Assists the Rehabilitation team as needed.
  • BOOKS IN BED: Distributes free books to patients throughout Florida Hospital for Children.  Volunteers 18 years of age and older or Care Pairs are welcome to read with the patients at the bedside.
  • MEDICAL STAFF SERVICES: Assist Credentialing Manager and Medical staff services team with daily office duties. 
  • GENERAL PEDIATRICS: (22 beds) Facilitate playroom and bedside activities for patients and siblings.  Assisting the Child Life Specialist when needed e.g. organizing, restocking, cleaning, etc.
  • HEALTHY 100 KIDS
  • MISSION: FIT POSSIBLE
  • CARE PAIR FOR TEEN VOLUNTEERS: Teenager 16 or 17 years old volunteers with an adult 18 years of age or older that they have obtained.
  • PEDIATRIC CARDIAC INTENSIVE CARE: (9 beds) Facilitates bedside activities for patients and siblings. Assists the Child Life Specialist when needed e.g. organizing, restocking, cleaning, etc.
  • PEDIATRIC DERMATOLOGY: Greets and directs patients and families, engages patients and siblings in play opportunities, provides additional family and patient needs in an outpatient setting. Assists staff with administrative duties as directed.
  • PEDIATRIC ORTHOPAEDICS: Greets and directs patients and families, engages patients and siblings in play opportunities, provides additional family and patient needs in an outpatient setting. Assists staff with administrative duties as directed.
  • MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS: Assists FHFC marketing staff with community events e.g. set up/break down, collect data, promote FHFC, engage with attendees, facilitate activities and post event data entry.
  • JUNIOR ADVENTURE GUIDE: Assists adventure guide with Walt Disney Pavilion lobby events and activities e.g. musical performances, games, etc.
