Ben L. Guedes, M.D
Medical Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
Dr. Guedes has been practicing medicine in central Florida since 1983. As medical director of PICU at Florida Hospital for Children, he oversees a committed team of highly trained specialists dedicated to stabilizing the condition of children who are experiencing serious complications from a disease, injury or accident. This can include severe infections, poisoning, trauma, immunological disorders, congenital conditions and drug overdose – any issue that is leading to or causing failure of the respiratory, circulatory, nervous or gastrointestinal systems.
Education and Experience
Dr. Guedes earned his medical degree at the University of Florida, where he also served his internship in pediatrics. He completed his pediatric residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and pediatric fellowship at the University of Florida. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
