Medical Director of Surgery
Dr. Thompson is one of the most experienced pediatric minimally invasive surgeons (MIS) in the country. In addition to being the medical director at the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children, Dr. Thompson has designed and led highly innovative training programs as the medical director for the Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement.
Fellowship trained and board certified, Dr. Thompson handles a wide range of surgical issues, including thorascopic surgery, chest wall deformities, general and thoracic surgery, hernia/hydrocele repair, orchiopexy, pediatric surgical oncology and neonatal surgery.
Education and Experience
Dr. Thompson earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and English from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, and his medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa. He served his general surgery residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and his pediatric surgery fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.
