Advanced Treatments

We recognize the importance of addressing each condition not only from a medical level but also from a social and emotional level. We only serve newborns, children and adolescents, and due to their still-developing minds and bodies, make an extra effort to provide this type of comprehensive care. Dermatological issues can be more than skin deep; they can affect your child’s self-image and self-esteem at a very sensitive stage in their young lives.

To treat your child, we utilize the latest advances in dermatological medicine, including:

Excimer Lasers

Our team uses the light emitted by the excimer laser in a highly controlled manner to treat specific skin issues, including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo and palmar plantar lesions.

Light Box

Similar to the excimer laser, the light box uses a different wavelength of UV light. It may be used for more widespread eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo and other skin conditions.

Hand and Foot Light Box

This light box is effective in treating skin conditions that are limited to the hand and feet such as contact dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis.

Laser Procedures

Our pediatric dermatology team members are experts in treating vascular birthmarks, including port wine stains and hemangiomas, as well as pigmented birthmarks and scars of all kinds, from acne to burns.

Sedation procedures

In some cases, our young patients will be more comfortable when they are able to fully relax. Our team works closely with our Sedation Service Unit to provide your child with an effective treatment that is as stress- and anxiety-free as possible.

Children with more serious dermatology problems will enjoy a seamless level of care as they move between in- and outpatient services. Many times, children will begin their treatment in the hospital, transitioning to outpatient care at the center as treatments continue. The result is a highly coordinated continuum of care and superior outcomes.
